Policy

What we collect, why we use it, and your choices.

Who is responsible

Selectr Studios Limited (company number 17378038) is responsible for your personal information. Our registered office is 167-169 Great Portland Street, London, England, W1W 5PF. Contact hello@selectr.app about privacy or your information. This policy covers our website, mobile app and waitlist.

Accounts and profiles

We collect your email, account credentials and sign-in records. If you use Google or Apple sign-in, we receive the account identifier and the name and email that provider shares, which may be an Apple relay address. We do not receive your Google or Apple password.

Your profile includes the name, role, bio, photo, social or music links, sounds and moods you provide. We record preferences, subscription or trial status, and service activity. Selectr is for adults aged 18 and over, and our signup forms ask you to confirm this and accept the terms.

Audio, matching and conversations

We store uploaded beats, titles, file information, sounds and moods. Our matching service analyzes audio and profile preferences to create numerical representations that help rank potential collaborators. We process this through Selectr's audio matching service hosted on Modal. Match percentages are recommendations, not guarantees or decisions with legal effects.

We store likes, passes, matches, messages, shared beats, read status and temporary typing status to provide discovery and conversations. Other users see the profile and content appropriate to the part of the app they use. Discovery hides some identifying profile details until a match. A recipient can still save or share content you send; account deletion cannot remove copies they keep outside Selectr.

Waitlist and communications

The waitlist collects your email and, if you complete a profile, your role, name, bio, links, photo, sounds, moods and uploaded beats. We also record campaign and referral details from your submission link. We use these details to review interest and invite people to Selectr.

We send account and service emails, including verification codes, password resets, invitations and account deletion confirmation. Optional activity emails can be turned off in Account settings or through the unsubscribe link. Account and security emails still send.

Safety and support

We process blocks, reports, report details and any selected message or beat evidence so moderators can investigate. A report may preserve the content as it appeared when reported, even if it is later edited or removed. Authorized moderators can review relevant profiles and conversation content, restrict accounts and remove content. We also process support correspondence and technical records needed to investigate failures, abuse or security incidents.

Why we use your information

We rely on performing our contract with you, or taking steps you request before a contract, to provide accounts, profiles, matching, messages and subscriptions. We rely on legitimate interests to protect the service, investigate reports, support users and understand service performance. We consider your rights when using information for these purposes. We rely on consent for optional waitlist updates, and on legal obligations where we must keep records or respond to lawful requests. You can withdraw consent without affecting earlier lawful use. We do not sell your personal information.

Service providers and payments

We use Vercel for website hosting and web analytics, our hosted PostgreSQL database for app records, Cloudflare R2 for uploaded files, Modal for audio matching, and Resend for email. Google or Apple handles its own sign-in service when you choose it. Stripe processes web subscription payments; we store billing identifiers and subscription status, while Stripe handles payment card details.

Service providers receive information needed to perform their role. We may also disclose information when legally required or necessary to protect people and the service. Some providers process information outside the UK. Contact us for information about processing locations and the safeguards applicable to your information.

Cookies, analytics and your device

Necessary cookies and app storage keep you signed in, verify waitlist access and remember progress. The app also stores drafts, pending messages and cached media on your device. Signing out or completing account deletion clears the account data managed by the app, with a retry if local cleanup cannot finish.

We use Vercel Web Analytics for aggregated website usage, such as page views, referring sites and device or browser information. This analytics service does not use analytics cookies. We do not use advertising cookies. Campaign parameters may also be saved with a waitlist record.

Retention, deletion and backups

We keep account information while your account is active. You can request deletion in Account settings, or contact hello@selectr.app. Deletion removes the account, profile, matches and messages from the live service and starts removal of uploaded media. If file storage is temporarily unavailable, a restricted cleanup record lets us retry. Waitlist members can email us to leave the waitlist and request deletion.

Database backups run every six hours. We retain the last seven days of backups, so deleted database information may remain in a backup until that backup expires. Backups are separate from the live app.

We retain waitlist information while reviewing interest and opening access, unless you request deletion sooner. Security, support and dispute records are kept for as long as needed to investigate the issue, protect the service or meet applicable legal requirements. Relevant criteria include whether an incident or dispute remains open and whether a legal retention requirement applies. Payment providers may retain their own records. Collaboration or agreement records held by other participants, and information that must be kept for legal reasons, may remain after you delete your account.

Your rights and contact

Depending on the circumstances, you can request access, correction, deletion, restriction or a portable copy of your personal information. You can object to uses based on legitimate interests and withdraw consent where we rely on it. Email hello@selectr.app to make a request. We may need to verify your identity before sharing or changing information.

You can complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk. You can also write to Selectr Studios Limited at the registered-office address above. We will update this policy when our practices change and bring material changes to your attention where appropriate.
